How To Use A VPN

What is a VPN? 

A VPN is a safe way for your device to connect to the internet. It links your phone, tablet, or computer to another computer (server). With this connection, you can use that computer’s (the server’s) internet connection to connect to the internet.

How to Set Up a VPN

Setting Up In Windows 10

  • Click the button that says Windows.
  • Open Settings, click Network & Internet and then click VPN.
  • Click on Connect to a VPN.
  • You need to give the VPN connection a name.
  • Choose the type of VPN you want to use and enter your login info.
  • Choose Save.

Setting Up In Chrome OS

  • Get an extension for the VPN you chose from the Chrome Web Store.
  • Click on the Time then Settings button in the lower right corner of your screen.
  • Press the Add Connection button.
  • Select OpenVPN/L2TP.
  • Add the setup information that your VPN provider gave you. They may include the server hostname, service name, pre-shared key, provider type, username, and password.
  • Click the button.
  • You may need to import a certificate if your workplace gives you a VPN. Here’s what you should do.
  • Chrome:/settings/certificates is the place to go.
  • Select the certificate and click Import on the Authorities tab.

Setting Up In macOS

  • Start, click on System Preferences, and then click on Network.
  • Click the plus sign in the lower-left corner of the screen.
  • Choose VPN from the drop-down menu.
  • Select Create.
  • Fill out the information on the VPN that came with it. The server address and remote ID are some of these.
  • Click on Settings for Authentication. Here you’ll enter your login details. Click “OK,” then “Connect.”

Setting Up In iOS

  • Click on Settings and then General.
  • Choose VPN.
  • Click Add VPN Configuration.
  • Choose a security protocol from the list under Type. This depends on the VPN service you choose.
  • Return to the Add VPN Configuration page. Add the description, server, local ID, and remote ID.
  • Enter your login details.
  • Click Done.

Setting Up In Android

  • Go to Settings, Network & Internet, Advanced, and VPN.
  • Add the VPN name, type, and Server address to your VPN profile to set it up. Choose Save.
  • Tap the name of the VPN you use. To log in, you’ll be asked for your name and password.
  • Click the button.
  • Type in the server address, VPN name, VPN type, username, and password.
  • Choose Save.
