Recently, last month Apple introduced M1 chips in order to promote higher performance and efficiency. Relative to the M1 chips, Apple is now developing different number of silicone chip variants which has higher core counts. Moreover, the company is working on a ARM-based processor which is expected to launch in the late 2021. The ARM-based processor has 32 high performance CPU cores. In 2022, Apple might install the new in half sized Macbook Pro.
This news has released as Apple recently launched new Macbooks with M1 chips. Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, and Macbook Mini has been using the company’s own M1 chips which also features a CPU that comes with four high performance cores and four high efficiency cores. However, the Macbook Pro are still using intel chips because these are high performing machines. The company says that it intends to transform their whole line of Macbooks by inserting their own chips. This transition is expected to occur over the course of two years.
According to a report released by Bloomberg, alongside increasing the core CPU counts, Apple is also working on more chips with GPU cores. The current M1 chips by Apple comes in seven to eight cores. In the current scenario, Apple is testing models with 16 and 32 cores which will be launching in the near 2021 and 2022.
The plans of Apple are ambitious with regard to setting up their Macbook lineup. Therefore, we can wait for higher performing and efficient Macs in future with silicone chips.
